ADDICOTT RESERVE

Public BBQ

Addicott Reserve occupies a generous patch of Taylors Hill where suburban planning meets nature's stubborn resistance to municipal grooming. The reserve offers the essential trio of Australian recreation: BBQ facilities, picnic tables, and a playground featuring two swings that have seen better decades. A substantial open field stretches across the property, though groundskeepers appear to have adopted a laissez-faire approach to maintenance, allowing various weeds to establish their own territory. The covered picnic area provides welcome shelter, though visitors should arrive equipped with cleaning supplies, the local bird population has left rather obvious calling cards on the furniture, and the structure's design seems purpose-built for channeling every available breeze. Despite these rustic charms, families seeking an unpretentious barbecue spot will find adequate facilities surrounded by plenty of space for children to explore nature in its more authentic, if slightly disheveled, state.
